The annual \u201cSmoke on the Water BBQ\u201d fundraiser in Polk County has been canceled, less than one month before it was scheduled to take place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A post on the \u201cSmoke on the Water BBQ\u201d Facebook page <\/a>said the \u201csubstantial resources, manpower, and effort\u201d required to host the event \u201care not in alignment with our renewed focus and strategic direction.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fundraiser has been held for the past 20 years and benefited the Boys & Girls Club of Polk County. This year\u2019s event was scheduled for Feb. 2 and Feb. 3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe would like to extend a sincere apology to all the BBQ teams, judges, vendors, volunteers, and participants who have been preparing for this year\u2019s event,\u201d the post reads. \u201cWe recognize and deeply appreciate your passion and commitment, and we regret any inconvenience or disappointment this cancellation may cause.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n
