{"id":40961,"date":"2024-01-13T21:00:34","date_gmt":"2024-01-14T02:00:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/?p=40961"},"modified":"2024-01-13T21:00:38","modified_gmt":"2024-01-14T02:00:38","slug":"terrifying-light-pole-takedown-on-polk-parkway-caught-on-dashcam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/2024\/01\/13\/terrifying-light-pole-takedown-on-polk-parkway-caught-on-dashcam\/","title":{"rendered":"Terrifying Light Pole Takedown on Polk Parkway Caught on Dashcam"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This guy\u2019s daughter\u2019s dashcam captured the exact moment a lawn-mowing tractor caused this light pole to topple on 570.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Presumed Lakeland, FL resident and Redditor \/r\/LiberaiBiblicisms uploaded video footage from his daughter\u2019s dashcam to the \/r\/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing the heart pumping moment a light pole literally toppled over and fell right in front of his daughter\u2019s car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Check out the footage for yourself below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As mentioned, the incident took place on the Polk Parkway (aka SR 570) in Lakeland, FL right before the Polk State College exit (exit 10 and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/@27.9965759,-81.9122633,3a,75y,71.16h,90.84t\/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1saBj6h4E6kcEANcIjacAxjg!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu\">exact location on Google Maps linked here.<\/a>)TPlay Video<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As OP\u2019s daughter\u2019s dashcam shows, she\u2019s driving in the middle lane of Polk Parkway, going at a reasonable 68 MPH.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<center><blockquote class=\"reddit-embed-bq\" style=\"height:500px\" data-embed-height=\"566\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/IdiotsInCars\/comments\/195bi0x\/oc_idiots_in_tractors_count_my_daughter_almost\/\">[OC] Idiots in tractors count? My daughter almost wrecked today because of a lawn-mowing tractor on the side of a parkway.<\/a><br> by<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/user\/LiberaIBiblicisms\/\">u\/LiberaIBiblicisms<\/a> in<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/IdiotsInCars\/\">IdiotsInCars<\/a><\/blockquote><script async=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/embed.reddit.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"UTF-8\"><\/script>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No one expects an entire light pole to topple over, but in the distance we can see a light pole next to a guard rail tetter and actually topple over onto the highway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">OP\u2019s daughter slams on her brakes and comes within feet of the falling pole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We can see the lamp fixture shatter into thousands of tiny pieces across the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The guilty party, a tractor driver towing a mower, can be seen off the side of the road realizing what he did, climbing over the barrier, and pulling the light pole out of the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thankfully, a police officer arrives on the scene to assess the situation and control traffic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As quickly as it happened, the situation resolves itself just as fast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The tractor driver safely pulls the light pole completely out of the way and picks up any large pieces of light pole that can cause a road hazard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">OP\u2019s daughter, including the rest of the traffic behind her, continues on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cShe did good seeing it and stopping. I was so afraid somebody would hit her from behind. Too many people don\u2019t pay attention,\u201d \/u\/Lonely-Greybeard commented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cCrazy stuff happens. Glad she was alert and safe,\u201d \/u\/Spavolka added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYikes.
