In the early morning hours of January 12, 2024, two vehicles collided head-on in the 7400 block of State Road 33. A 2015 Volkswagen station wagon, driven by Scott Gnatt (age 58), was driving north on State Road 33 and drove into the oncoming path of a 2008 Toyota SUV which was driving southbound. Gnatt fled on foot to a nearby gas station and attempted to get a ride from the area with patrons at the <\/a>store, leaving the driver of the Toyota with injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n

Officers rapidly responded and located Gnatt in a vehicle that was attempting to leave the gas station. Gnatt had blood on his face from injuries sustained in the crash. When Gnatt was searched a baggie of methamphetamine was found on his person. The baggie was placed on the officer\u2019s hood and while the officer was attempting to complete his search, Gnatt bent over and attempted to eat the bag of drugs. Gnatt was not able to swallow the bag and it was recovered. Gnatt also had an active arrest warrant for Trafficking in Methamphetamine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gnatt was charged with the following offenses:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leaving the Scene of a Crash-Involving Injury<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Knowingly Driving on a Suspended License (3rd Offense)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Possession of Methamphetamine<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Destroy\/Tampering with Evidence<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia<\/p>\n\n\n\n
