WHEN:<\/strong>                  Milling on the first street, Cleveland Heights Boulevard will start January 18, 2024, and the last road, Rose Street is scheduled to have paving completed on February 5, 2024<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WHERE:<\/strong>                Cleveland Heights Boulevard, Lake Hunter Drive, West Main Street, Webster Avenue, Rose Street<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LAKELAND, FL<\/strong> (January 17, 2024) – The City of Lakeland has a preventative maintenance schedule for street resurfacing and the schedule includes five streets that will be worked on in succession starting January 18, 2024. Contractors working for the City of Lakeland will start milling the asphalt surface down to the road base and then systematically pave the road before moving on to the next street.  Milling for each street is expected to take two days and the resurfacing is expected to take one to two days depending on the length of the street.  Milling on Cleveland Heights Boulevard between Lake Hollingsworth Drive and Edgewood Drive will start January 18, 2024, so vehicular traffic is encouraged to use an alternative route during morning and evening commutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE PAVING SCHEDULE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cleveland Heights<\/strong> Boulevard from Lake Hollingsworth Drive to Edgewood Drive \u2013 Milling January 18-19, 2024. Paving January 22-23, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lake Hunter Drive <\/strong>from King Avenue to Sikes Boulevard \u2013 Milling January 22, 2024. Paving January 29, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

W Main Street\/Central Avenue<\/strong> from Olive Street to George Jenkins Boulevard \u2013 Milling January 23, 2024.  Paving January 30, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Webster Avenue\/7th<\/sup> Street <\/strong>from 10th<\/sup> St. to the North End \u2013 Milling January 24 \u2013 25, 2024. Paving January 31 and February 1, 2024<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rose Street<\/strong> from Ingraham Avenue to Fern Road \u2013 Milling January 26and 29, 2024. Paving February 2 and 5, 2024<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The roadway must be milled before paving otherwise the elevation of the road would continue to get higher every time a paving project occurred.  Milling before paving prevents driveway and ADA ramp adjustments due to increasing pavement heights. It is common practice to mill down the road before adding a hot paving mix.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This project will be performed during the daytime hours to least impact the residential area. Vehicular traffic will be limited while the contractor is working. During repaving projects, traffic control signs will be in place and flagmen will be there to assists motorists.
