A ballot initiative in Florida to legalize marijuana for nonmedical purposes has enough verified signatures to appear before voters this November, according to the state<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n

As of Monday, it has over one million legal petitions of just under 900,000 needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is still pending Florida Supreme Court approval.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Below is the summary that would appear on voter ballots on Nov. 5:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Allows adults 21 years or older to possess, purchase, or use marijuana products and marijuana accessories for non-medical personal consumption by smoking, ingestion, or otherwise; allows Medical Marijuana Treatment Centers, and other state-licensed entities, to acquire, cultivate, process, manufacture, sell, and distribute such products and accessories. Applies to Florida law; does not change, or immunize violations of, federal law. Establishes possession limits for personal use. Allows consistent legislation. Defines terms. Provides effective date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Smart & Safe Florida<\/a> is sponsoring the initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under current law, marijuana is allowed for medical use by a \u201cqualifying patient or caregiver.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But under the proposal, all \u201cnon-medical personal use\u201d by an adult cannot be criminally or civilly pursued by law enforcement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It also allows treatment centers and other licensed venues to produce marijuana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If the question does appear on voter ballots in November, it would require 60% voter approval to take effect in mid-2025.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
