Heads up, drivers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beginning at 10 p.m. Tuesday, the eastbound lanes of Interstate 4 near Kathleen Road in Lakeland will be closed for several hours. <\/p>\n\n\n

The Florida Department of Transportation said in a news release <\/a>the closure is to help crews move a crane across the eastbound lanes to the median. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To get around the area, drivers can detour at U.S. 92 and head east to North Florida Avenue, make a left and go north to get back on the interstate, officials say. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Traffic signs and law enforcement officers will be near the area to help drivers use the correct detour. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Use caution and schedule extra time to arrive at your destination,” the news release reads. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The westbound lanes of 1-4 will not be affected during the closure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

FDOT says the crane being moved will be used to assist with a project that includes replacing the existing 250-foot CSX railroad bridge with two new 400-foot bridges. This will provide for CSX double tracking and help the future expansion of the interstate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project reportedly costs $26 million and first began in 2021. It’s scheduled to be completed this year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
