{"id":4161,"date":"2019-10-31T08:11:06","date_gmt":"2019-10-31T12:11:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/?p=4161"},"modified":"2019-10-31T08:11:25","modified_gmt":"2019-10-31T12:11:25","slug":"fsc-mens-soccer-scores-first-yet-falls-to-embry-riddle-3-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/2019\/10\/31\/fsc-mens-soccer-scores-first-yet-falls-to-embry-riddle-3-1\/","title":{"rendered":"FSC Men&#8217;s Soccer Scores First, Yet Falls to Embry Riddle, 3-1"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Florida Southern College men&#8217;s soccer team had an opportunity to strengthen its grip on a potential Sunshine State Conference playoff berth, but let it slip away with a 3-1 loss to Embry-Riddle on Wednesday night, at Moccasin Field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1110px) 100vw, 1110px\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Mocs-FSC.png?resize=400%2C400&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2148\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Mocs-FSC.png?w=400&amp;ssl=1 400w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Mocs-FSC.png?resize=150%2C150&amp;ssl=1 150w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Mocs-FSC.png?resize=300%2C300&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Mocs-FSC.png?resize=250%2C250&amp;ssl=1 250w\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Mocs (4-5-5, 2-3-4 SSC) entered the night in seventh place in the conference, just behind sixth place Rollins College, who also lost on Wednesday, 1-0 at Barry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>HOW IT HAPPENED<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The Mocs played well early, as junior&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/fscmocs.prestosports.com\/sports\/msoc\/2019-20\/bios\/meehan_james_cl92\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">James Meehan<\/a>&nbsp;scored on a pass from&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/fscmocs.prestosports.com\/sports\/msoc\/2019-20\/bios\/vincent_taylor_4p6h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Taylor Vincent<\/a>&nbsp;in the game&#8217;s third minute.<\/li><li>The game&#8217;s momentum quickly shifted to the visiting Eagles (4-8-0, 3-6-0 SSC).<\/li><li>The Eagles managed to tie the game at 1-1 late in the first half, in the 42<sup>nd<\/sup>&nbsp;minute.<\/li><li>ERAU outshot Florida Southern 9-4 in the first half.<\/li><li>&nbsp;Most of those Embry-Riddle shots were from distance, as Southern grad student keeper&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/fscmocs.prestosports.com\/sports\/msoc\/2019-20\/bios\/faderl_phillip_cq8n\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Philip Faderl<\/a>&nbsp;made seven of his ten saves in the first half.<\/li><li>In the second half, both teams had opportunities, but it was the visitors from Daytona Beach who were able to capitalize, scoring in the 67<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;and 84<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;minutes.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>INSIDE THE NUMBERS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Meehan has now scored three goals on the season, all coming in his last two games played. He previously had two markers against Eckerd, then did not play against UMary.<\/li><li>The assist for Vincent was his first of the year. He also has one goal scored, against Tampa.<\/li><li>For Faderl, this was the second time this season he made double digit saves. His season-high is 11, at Nova Southeastern.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>UP NEXT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The final regular season match will be next Tuesday, Nov. 5, against Saint Leo. Prior to the game, around 6:30 p.m., there will be a special ceremony as we celebrate our seasoned veterans on Senior Day. &nbsp;Should the Mocs qualify for the SSC Championships, they would probably participate in a play-in game, on Monday, Nov. 11.
