On Saturday, February 3, 2024, at approximately 6:33 a.m., officers responded to a traffic crash involving a blue Chevrolet pickup truck and a black Suzuki motorcycle in the 3900 block of New Tampa Highway. Just before the crash, the Chevrolet was traveling westbound on New Tampa Highway and the Suzuki was traveling eastbound on New Tampa Highway. The Chevrolet attempted to pass a cement mixer in front of him traveling the same direction and pulled into the eastbound lane as the Suzuki was approaching. The motorcycle then impacted the front of the Chevrolet, causing the operator to separate from the bike. The Chevrolet continued into the grassy area on the south side of the roadway where it rolled over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lakeland Police Department Patrol Units, Polk County Fire Rescue, and the Lakeland Fire Department all arrived on the scene to begin life-saving measures. The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased by medical personnel at the scene. The driver of the Chevrolet was transported to Lakeland Regional Health with minor injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The roadway was shut down for approximately four hours to process the scene for the ongoing investigation. Limited visibility due to fog in the area appeared to be a factor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sadly in 2021 Max Beagen was in another crash that killed his female passenger:<\/p>\n\n\n\n


<\/a>On Thursday February 25, 2021 at around 4:18 PM, emergency personnel including Lake Wales Police, Lake Wales Fire and Polk County EMS responded to a vehicle crash on Burns Avenue at 9th Street in Lake Wales. After emergency personnel arrived, it was learned that a blue 1981 Honda motorcycle being driven by 30 year old Max Beagen of Lake Wales had collided with a 2017 Buick Sedan being driven by 84 year old Allen Carmean of Lake Wales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the initial investigation, it was learned that Beagen, along with his passenger, 19 year old Alanna Goodson of Lake Wales, were traveling East on Burns Avenue. Carmean, the lone occupant of the Buick, was traveling North on 9th Street and had stopped at the stop sign at Burns Avenue. For unknown reasons, Carmean pulled onto Burns Avenue in an attempt to travel West, directly into the path of the motorcycle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When the vehicles collided both Beagen and Goodson were thrown from the motorcycle critically injuring Goodson. She was treated at the scene and then transported by air to Lakeland Regional Health with life threatening injuries. She later died while being treated there. Beagen was first transported to Advent Health in Lake Wales before being transported by ambulance to Lakeland Regional Health for non-life threatening injuries.
