A NEW tiny home village has offered people the chance to rent a building out for $300 a month but people must meet specific criteria.<\/p>\n\n\n

The community has been built in Victoria, Texas, around 100 miles southeast of San Antonio, by the non-profit Promise Pointe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This community is only available to rent by the homeless population in the Victoria and Crossroads area.<\/p>\n\n\n

Promise Pointe has created a community for people suffering from chronic homelessness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The nonprofit provided a definition and criteria for chronic homelessness and the requirements needed to apply for housing, according to the nonprofit’s website<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAn individual who is homeless (without a permanent dwelling) and has lived in a place not meant for human habitation, in a safe haven or in an emergency shelter for an extended period of time,\u201d their definition for chronic homelessness said.<\/p>\n\n\n

\u201cOr has had at least episodes of homelessness lasting 90 days or more, on separate occasions, in the last 3 years.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Applicants must also meet three criteria to apply for one of these tiny homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Firstly, eligible residents must have had a coordinated assessment within six months of their application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A coordinated assessment is a system that assesses an individual’s living situation and can give them access to homeless services.<\/p>\n\n\n

The other two criteria are someone must be found to be eligible for permanent supportive housing and that person must be referred by another homeless provider.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This means that people interested in the homes cannot apply for a tiny home totally on their own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some extra requirements include having lived in the Victoria Crossroads area for the past year and the ability to pay the $300 a month rent.<\/p>\n\n\n

These tiny homes are partly furnished as they come with a bedroom, new bed, fresh linens, living area, and storage space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Residents are also allowed to have one pet in their home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One nonprofit announced plans to create a tiny home village where people can live rent-free for two years<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
