Florida Southern men’s basketball alum Dylan Travis was selected to the first-ever Team USA 3×3 Olympic roster as the group of four heads to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Travis, a 2016 graduate of Florida Southern College, will be joined by Canyon Barry (Univ. of Florida), Jimmer Fredette (BYU), and Kareem Maddox (Princeton) to compete for Team USA as the roster was selected by the USA Basketball 3×3 Men’s National Team Committee.

The quartet, who won gold together at the 2022 FIBA 3×3 Men’s AmeriCup and the 2023 Pan American Games, will be coached by Joe Lewandowski and assisted by James Fraschilla.

USA Basketball also announced that the 2024 USA 3×3 Men’s National Team will hold a training camp in conjunction with the NCAA Men’s Final Four\u00ae April 3-7 in Phoenix. Team activity includes an exhibition game against Puerto Rico at the Reese’s Men’s Final Four on Friday (State Farm Stadium); a modified exhibition game against Puerto Rico during halftime of the second semifinal game on Saturday (State Farm Stadium); and an open practice and autograph session at the Men’s Final Four Fan Fest on Sunday (Phoenix Convention Center).

FIBA previously announced that USA Basketball automatically qualified the men’s and women’s 3×3 teams for the 2024 Olympics. In each category, the United States was one of three countries that qualified based on FIBA 3×3 world rankings as of Oct. 31, 2023, and will bypass the 2024 Olympic Qualifying Tournaments. In total, USA Basketball will be represented by four teams at the 2024 Olympic Games, including 5-on-5 men and women and 3×3 men and women. The Paris 2024 Olympics are set for July 26-Aug. 11, with the 3×3 basketball competition set for July 30-Aug.5 at Place de la Concorde.

Different than 5-on-5, 3×3 is played on a half-court with a 10-minute game clock and a 12-second shot clock. Play is continuous, as teams “clear” the ball behind the 2-point line following a made basket, defensive rebound, or steal. The first team to score 21 points via 1-point field goals or 2-pointers behind the arc is victorious; or if time expires then the team leading wins.
