Their predictions echo earlier forecasts from AccuWeather<\/a> and Florida’s Dr. Ryan Truchelut, chief meteorologist at WeatherTiger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next up will be the season forecast from the National Hurricane Center<\/a>, usually released in May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indications as early as February have had forecasters on edge, predicting it will be an active season because of the combination of La Ni\u00f1a and record warm water temperatures<\/a> in the Atlantic basin. The Atlantic basin is made up of the northern Atlantic, Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

11 hurricanes<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5 major hurricanes<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We estimate 2024 will have 23 named storms, average is 14.4; 115 named storm days, average is 69.4; 11 hurricanes, average is 7.2; 45 hurricane days, average is 27.0; five major \u2014 Category 3-4-5 \u2014 hurricanes, average is 3.2; and 13 major hurricane days, average is 7.4,” CSU said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
