It\u2019s not just Jeremy Camp\u2019s ability to connect with his audiences that drives his music, but also getting his music into their souls. He said it’s the chance to share the stories of God\u2019s eternal love for everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Camp brings those songs of inspiration, motivation, and reflection to Lakeland on April 21 as part of his \u201cThe Theater Tour,\u201d where he\u2019ll perform in the Polk Theatre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since 2000, Camp has released 14 albums, five of them Gold-certified by the Recording Industry Association of America. Along the way, he\u2019s earned other accolades and awards from Christian and secular associations, including five GMA Dove Awards, a Grammy Award nomination, three American Music Award nominations and four ASCAP \u201cSongwriter of the Year\u201d awards. He was also named Billboard\u2019s No. 2 Christian artist of the decade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In September 2022, Camp was at the top of Billboard\u2019s Christian Airplay, tying for the most No. 1 songs among soloists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But when asked, Camp said it\u2019s not the awards and recognitions that most inspire him to tour and perform, it\u2019s the ability to bring God\u2019s love to his audiences through music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And as far as \u201cThe Theater Tour,\u201d Camp, 46, said he specifically sought out smaller venues to play because of their more personal nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 \u201cI love theaters and love the environment. I felt like it gets really intimate in a good way and for me,\u201d he said from the home he shares in Franklin, Tennessee, with his wife, Adrienne, two daughters, 19 and 18, and a son, 12. \u201cI love connecting with the crowd and sharing the stories of what God\u2019s done and the meanings behind the songs, and I think theaters are good, close connection points for that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The April show will be Camp\u2019s second time playing Lakeland but first time in the historic Polk Theatre, which he called a \u201creally cool spot, we all agreed, so we picked it to play.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the approximately 105-minute show, Camp will be part of a five-piece band and said he\u2019ll be playing songs from 2002\u2019s \u201cStay\u201d \u2013 his first major record release \u2013 up to songs off his latest LP, 2021\u2019s \u201cWhen You Speak.\u201d One of his most recent singles, \u201cThese Days,\u201d was released Jan. 5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Camp said he\u2019s bringing a full, high-energy production with lots of \u201cstorytelling\u201d into the intimate Polk Theatre setting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019ll play songs from every album. I think the night will be, in a good way, like a roller coaster. It\u2019s very high-energy but there\u2019s moments I break down with the acoustic and play some old songs or play a song on the piano,\u201d Camp said.<\/p>\n\n\n

Although he\u2019s considered a Christian music artist, Camp said everyone is welcome to his shows, which appeal to religious and secular crowds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cReally, anybody who likes music will enjoy the night,\u201d he said. \u201cFor me, bringing the hope of what God has done in my life is the major key. I hope people are encouraged and find hope and healing in some way and that\u2019s kind of the heart\u2019s desire.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Camp kicked off the East Coast part of \u201cThe Theater Tour\u201d on March \u00a021 in North Carolina. The 17-date run will include stops in Florida, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Georgia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Camp\u2019s \u201cThe Theatre Tour\u201d show will be opened by Nashville\u2019s Caleb & John, a spiritual, high-energy duo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
