{"id":4456,"date":"2019-11-08T13:42:06","date_gmt":"2019-11-08T18:42:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/?p=4456"},"modified":"2019-11-08T13:42:17","modified_gmt":"2019-11-08T18:42:17","slug":"lpd-chief-fires-officer-after-his-dui-arrest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/2019\/11\/08\/lpd-chief-fires-officer-after-his-dui-arrest\/","title":{"rendered":"LPD Chief fires officer after his DUI arrest"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A Lakeland police officer was fired Thursday after being\naccused of driving under the influence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"750\" height=\"422\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1110px) 100vw, 1110px\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/landry.jpg?resize=750%2C422&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4457\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/landry.jpg?w=750&amp;ssl=1 750w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/landry.jpg?resize=300%2C169&amp;ssl=1 300w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Officer Chad Landry was arrested on Nov. 2 in Okaloosa\nCounty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After reviewing the case, Lakeland police decided Landry had\nviolated department policies regarding unlawful behavior and conduct unbecoming\nof an officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the time of his arrest, Landry had been attending\ntraining at the national K-9 trials. He was put on administrative leave prior\nto his firing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;The members of the Lakeland Police Department must\nuphold the highest standards of conduct in both their personal and professional\nlife in order to maintain the public trust and confidence of the citizens we\nserve,&#8221; Police Chief Ruben Garcia wrote in an email. &#8220;When that trust\nis breached by a law enforcement officer, we must be held accountable to the\nhighest standards as well.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Garcia apologized to the people of Lakeland and Okaloosa\nCounty on behalf of his agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Landy had worked for the Lakeland Police Department for four\nyears.
