A Davenport man was killed after he veered off the road after being involved in a hit-and-run on Saturday morning. <\/p>\n\n\n

A man was killed in the second of two consecutive crashes on Saturday morning.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Edgar Penaloza, 50, was driving southbound on North Scenic Highway near Hickory Hammock Road just before 1 a.m. when he rear-ended a Honda Civic with his Toyota Tundra, according to a news release by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Penaloza then drove away and at about 1:03 a.m., the pick-up truck was found crashed, off the roadway south of the intersection of North Scenic Highway and Egg Farm Road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deputies said they believe he lost control of the Toyota in a curve. The truck was overturned multiple times and the bed of the truck was separated from the cab. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Penaloza wasn’t wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle deputies said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two crashes were two miles apart and the highway was closed for three hours while deputies investigated. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
