DeSantis Rejects Biden\u2019s Title IX Rewrite \u201cWe Will Not Comply\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has made it clear that the state will not comply with the updated Title IX regulations introduced by the Biden administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Biden administration published a final regulation on Friday that adds \u201csexual orientation\u201d and \u201cgender identity\u201d to the Title IX protections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Any public school or institution that gets federal financing is prohibited from discriminating on the basis of sex under Title IX.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On X, DeSantis tweeted, \u201cFlorida\u2019s response to Joe Biden trying to inject gender ideology into education, undermining opportunities for girls and women, violating parents\u2019 rights, and abusing his constitutional authority: We will not comply.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<center><blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-media-max-width=\"560\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Florida\u2019s response to Joe Biden trying to inject gender ideology into education, undermining opportunities for girls and women, violating parents&#39; rights, and abusing his constitutional authority:<br><br>We will not comply. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/12pnpOU68Z\">pic.twitter.com\/12pnpOU68Z<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Ron DeSantis (@GovRonDeSantis) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GovRonDeSantis\/status\/1783536464317255919?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 25, 2024<\/a><\/blockquote> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Florida Education Commissioner Manny Diaz sent a letter to school district superintendents and charter school leaders, instructing them to refrain from implementing any changes outlined in the updated Title IX regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Diaz emphasized Florida\u2019s commitment to respecting parents\u2019 rights in directing their children\u2019s education and ensuring student safety and privacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Florida Board of Education had previously approved a rule last August, specifically targeting restrooms and changing areas in colleges and universities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The state rule prohibits individuals from willfully entering facilities designated for the opposite sex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Absence of trans sports<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Title IX rewrite does not address transgender athletes, despite previous efforts by the Biden administration to include a provision barring schools from prohibiting biological males from competing in women\u2019s and girls\u2019 sports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The administration is currently&nbsp;working&nbsp;on a separate rule that would prohibit schools from adopting a \u201cone-size-fits-all policy\u201d that allegedly discriminates against transgender athletes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many saw the postponement as a political ploy in an election year where Republicans have united behind the prohibition of transgender athletes from participating in girls\u2019 sports, the&nbsp;AP reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Florida is among the 24&nbsp;states&nbsp;that have enacted bans on biological males participating in women\u2019s and girls\u2019 sports.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has made it clear that the state will not comply with the updated Title IX regulations introduced by the Biden administration.
