{"id":45101,"date":"2024-05-06T19:13:27","date_gmt":"2024-05-06T23:13:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/?p=45101"},"modified":"2024-05-06T19:13:31","modified_gmt":"2024-05-06T23:13:31","slug":"19-year-old-gage-dennis-and-andrew-laporte-were-arrested","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/2024\/05\/06\/19-year-old-gage-dennis-and-andrew-laporte-were-arrested\/","title":{"rendered":"19-year-old Gage Dennis and Andrew LaPorte were arrested"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Sunday, May 5th, <strong>19-year-old Gage Dennis and Andrew LaPorte<\/strong> were arrested by the Polk County Sheriff&#8217;s Office. <\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"680\" height=\"403\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1110px) 100vw, 1110px\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/GM6Zev2WkAAa0hB.png?resize=680%2C403&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-45102\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/GM6Zev2WkAAa0hB.png?w=680&amp;ssl=1 680w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/GM6Zev2WkAAa0hB.png?resize=300%2C178&amp;ssl=1 300w\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here is what was reported: A little before 2 PM, <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">PCSO deputies responded to a call in the Highland City area of Central Avenue SE and 3rd Avenue SE (Lakeland) after an assault was reported. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The incident began with a disturbance among two groups of people, but things escalated quickly when Gage Dennis intentionally drove a tan 2003 Honda sedan at four people, striking one of them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Andrew LaPorte then jumped on top of the downed victim and began to batter him. As deputies were arriving, <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dennis attempted to hide from them by crawling under a house, then removed floorboards to gain entry into the residence. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dennis was captured there by deputies. The victim who was hit by the car only suffered minor injuries. Andrew LaPorte and Gage Dennis were arrested and taken to the Polk Pokey. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">LaPorte was charged with Felony Battery and Violation of Probation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dennis was charged with Attempted 1st Degree Murder (4 counts), Burglary, Criminal Mischief, and Resisting.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Sunday, May 5th, 19-year-old Gage Dennis and Andrew LaPorte were arrested by the Polk County Sheriff&#8217;s Office.
