Polk County Attorney Randy Mink was installed as president of the Lakeland Bar Association on May 3, 2024. He is the first county attorney to be installed as president of the Lakeland Bar Association.<\/p>\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s an honor to be the president of the Lakeland Bar Association, one of the most professional attorney associations in the state,\u201d said Mink, who has worked for the Polk County Board of County Commissioners since 2006. He was appointed as Polk County attorney in 2021. \u201cI look forward to working with my fellow board members to provide great speakers and training opportunities to the members of the association.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mink has been a member of the Lakeland Bar Association for 17 years and he has been a member of its board since 2019. The Lakeland Bar Association is a volunteer bar association which has more than 150 attorneys that practice in Florida\u2019s 10th Judicial Circuit, which is comprised of Polk, Highlands and Hardee counties. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The county attorney is appointed by Polk County\u2019s commissioners and is responsible for providing timely legal advice to the Board, county division personnel and other constitutional officers. He often advises the commissioners during public hearings. The county attorney drafts ordinances and policies following direction from the commission. He also oversees pending legal matters. The county attorney, along with County Manager Bill Beasley, are the only two county employees hired directly by the commissioners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRandy Mink\u2019s installation as President of the Lakeland Bar Association speaks volumes about his knowledge and expertise,\u201d Beasley said. \u201cHe is well respected in legal circles, and the people of Polk County are fortunate to have him as the county attorney.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
