{"id":45275,"date":"2024-05-10T14:27:35","date_gmt":"2024-05-10T18:27:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/?p=45275"},"modified":"2024-05-10T14:27:40","modified_gmt":"2024-05-10T18:27:40","slug":"homicide-investigation-9","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/2024\/05\/10\/homicide-investigation-9\/","title":{"rendered":"Homicide Investigation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On May 9, 2024, at 9:21 p.m. officers were called to a shooting at 1689 Village Center Drive in Lakeland.&nbsp;The caller said he just shot his husband and identified himself as Gavin Miranda, age 27.&nbsp;Officers arrived and found the victim, Hugo Gomez, age 30, deceased in the living room, lying face down on the floor.&nbsp;The Lakeland Fire Department and Polk County Fire Rescue responded and pronounced Gomez deceased at the scene.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"414\" height=\"512\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1110px) 100vw, 1110px\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/unnamed-77.jpg?resize=414%2C512&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-45277\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/unnamed-77.jpg?w=414&amp;ssl=1 414w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/unnamed-77.jpg?resize=243%2C300&amp;ssl=1 243w\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Detectives and Forensic Services responded and processed the scene. Miranda claimed the two had been in a physical altercation inside of the apartment in which Gomez choked him.&nbsp;Miranda disclosed he obtained a gun and shot Gomez multiple times.&nbsp;Evidence indicated Gomez was shot once to the front of his body, then after he fell to the ground was shot nine more times in the back.
