Florida Southern College junior men’s soccer student-athlete James Meehan<\/a> was named the Sunshine State Conference Offensive Player of the Week, for the period ending November 10, 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the first time this season that he has won the award, and second time in his career at FSC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Needing a win to secure a berth in the upcoming SSC men’s soccer tournament, Florida Southern came from behind to defeat visiting Saint Leo, 2-1. Meehan scored two goals in dramatic fashion for the Mocs in the final 14 minutes of the game to propel Southern into the postseason.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the 77th<\/sup> minute, the Mocs played a long ball over the top of the midfield, where Alberto Diaz<\/a> would settle the ball, and find a streaking Meehan, who easily beat the keeper. The Mocs had finally found rhythm offensively, and in the 82nd<\/sup> minute, Claus Lehland<\/a> fed the ball to Meehan, who scored the eventual game winning goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
