It is distressing to read \u201cDeSantis Resists Climate Measures,\u201d [May 7] by John Kennedy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sadly, a scientific fact-based reality \u2013 increasing greenhouse gases resulting in temperature rise \u2013 has been turned into a political one. Why are 99% of scientists alarmed about climate change, but many of our politicians are clueless? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

An investigation by the Senate Budget Committee entitled \u201cDenial, Disinformation, and Doublespeak:  Big Oil\u2019s Evolving Efforts to Avoid Accountability for Climate Change\u201d took place on May 1. Big Oil has known climate change was coming for 40 years. What did they do? They masterminded a well-funded, well-organized secret campaign complete with well-paid lobbyists to create doubt in people\u2019s minds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Climate change is now here with a 1.5 degree temperature increase last year. Early tipping points have been reached. We have the tools to mitigate climate change and prevent the worst of the devastating conditions that our grandchildren will face. But we don\u2019t have the political will. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just ask DeSantis and our Republican legislators. The disinformation campaign wages on. When you vote this November, don\u2019t vote for fossil fuel pawns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
