Three men from Houston were arrested on Saturday in connection with a vehicle burglary at a Publix in Polk County after telling deputies that they traveled to Florida \u201cto go to the beach,\u201d according to officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Polk County Sheriff\u2019s Office said Keshawn Jones, 24, Zevorage Scott, 26, and Troy Kyle, 24, were in a vehicle believed to have been involved in a burglary in the parking lot of Publix on US-98 North in the Lakeland area.<\/p>\n\n\n

The suspect vehicle had a covered license plate, which one of them admitted was to avoid paying tolls, deputies said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During interviews, all three men told detectives they didn\u2019t know anything about the burglary, and that they drove to Florida \u201cto go to the beach,\u201d deputies said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 \u201cThat\u2019s right \u2014 they drove from Houston\u2026a coastal city\u2026through Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama\u2026all of which have coastlines, and drove to the middle of Florida to Polk County\u2026where there is zero ocean front property,\u201d the Polk County Sheriff\u2019s Office wrote in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All three men were arrested and charged with burglary of conveyance, possession of burglary tools, and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, deputies said, noting that additional charges were possible.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
