brief letter\u00a0<\/a>from\u00a0New York\u00a0Justice\u00a0Juan Merchan\u00a0on Friday tells the parties that the court \u201cbecame aware of a comment\u201d from a user named \u201cMichael Anderson\u201d that states: \u201cMy cousin is a juror and says Trump is getting convicted \u2026 Thank you, folks, for all your hard work!!!!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\nThe comment was posted under an unrelated post on the New York court system\u2019s Facebook page from May 29, the day before jurors found Trump guilty on 34 counts of falsifying business records, according to the letter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A Facebook profile that appears to belong to the person who posted that comment \u2013 as well as similar comments on the court\u2019s page \u2013 describes himself as a \u201cprofessional s***poster\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Judge Merchan asks both sides to view the comment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Former federal prosecutor and NBC News contributor Joyce Alene said that Judge Merchan would be \u201csmart to advise the parties [and] hold a hearing on the record to resolve this.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIf it\u2019s someone posting with no basis for it as it appears, the record will be clear \u2026 and if there\u2019s something to it, good to get it out [and] do justice,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
New York Courts spokesperson Al Baker said in a statement to The Independent that \u201cas appropriate, the Court informed the parties once it learned of this online content.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A jury in\u00a0Manhattan\u00a0found Trump\u00a0guilty on all 34 counts\u00a0against him after deliberating for roughly nine hours over two days, and after hearing witness testimony and evidence\u00a0over roughly five weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
