In 1991, Lighthouse Ministries received a donation of two duplexes, which became transitional homes. Steve and Vicki Borgo were the first to live there, allowing Steve to complete the program and giving him time to establish himself with a job to support his family. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2020, we began the journey to replace these duplexes with five new townhome apartments to meet our clients\u2019 needs. Limited affordable housing in Lakeland has created a bottleneck for those completing our recovery program. The absence of housing blocks their long-hoped-for progress toward independence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On June 6, we broke ground on these new apartments: three 2-bedroom and two 3-bedroom homes. Lakeland residents who have completed their residential program and are employed will make these apartments their home. Lighthouse will continue to offer them childcare and case management for independent living.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These individuals and families will have experienced our continuum of care from day one of their entry through up to two years of walking side-by-side with them, providing holistic case management, housing, meals, mental health counseling, employment, spiritual formation, education, and early childhood development.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
