Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis held a news conference Thursday morning near Auburndale, lauding state transportation projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The governor announced that the Florida Department of Transportation was launching a website that would serve as a portal to \u201cmake clear where Florida stands\u201d as opposed to transportation initiatives pursued by the Biden administration. The website \u2014 RoadsAreNotForPolitics.com<\/a> \u2014 contains links to politically-imbued talking points such as \u201cgreenhouse gaslighting,\u201d \u201cequity vs. \u2018equity\u2019\u201d and \u201dweaponized bureaucracy,\u201d which in part address \u201cthe supposed \u2018climate crisis,\u2019\u201d how \u201cFlorida will continue leading the fight against special interests\u201d and \u201ckeeping Florida\u2019s transportation system free from COVID tyranny,\u201d respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upon taking office, the Biden Administration committed to \u2018building back better,\u2019 a promise to invest in the nation\u2019s deteriorating transportation system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unsurprisingly, less than 24 hours after President Biden assumed office, USDOT updated that commitment, placing an emphasis on, \u201ceconomic recovery, racial equity, and combating climate change,\u201d rather than reducing congestion and maintaining our roads and bridges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t want to see the weaponization of transportation dollars. We want to make sure that transportation and road-building is focusing on what it should be focusing on, providing our residents with an ability to get to and from in the most efficient and effective way possible. We should not be trying to shoehorn DEI or CRT or climate alarmism into these projects, these projects need to stand on their own two feet,\u201d DeSantis said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DeSantis was joined at the SunTrax Test Facility by FDOT Secretary Jared Perdue and others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
