{"id":47172,"date":"2024-06-30T10:59:51","date_gmt":"2024-06-30T14:59:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/?p=47172"},"modified":"2024-06-30T10:59:56","modified_gmt":"2024-06-30T14:59:56","slug":"pedestrian-killed-after-being-hit-trying-to-cross-a-state-road-60","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/2024\/06\/30\/pedestrian-killed-after-being-hit-trying-to-cross-a-state-road-60\/","title":{"rendered":"Pedestrian killed after being hit trying to cross a state road 60"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A man was killed after he tried to cross State Road 60 in Polk County on Saturday night.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" src=\"https:\/\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/images-13.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-47173\" style=\"width:532px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maximino Amiltempa, 39, walked onto the road and was hit by a 59-year-old who was driving around 10 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of State Road 60 near Turner Road in Mulberry, according to deputies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She was unable to avoid hitting him and he suffered significant injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 59-year-old woman showed no signs of impairment and was not speeding or distracted. Deputies said it was dark during the crash and there was no crosswalk.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The eastbound lanes were closed for three hours while deputies investigated but have since reopened.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A man was killed after he tried to cross State Road 60 in Polk County on Saturday night.
