Former President Donald Trump announced that Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance will be his vice presidential pick for the 2024 election, ending months of speculation and buildup.<\/p>\n\n\n

He made the announcement on Truth Social Monday afternoon, shortly before the official RNC nomination.\u00a0Trump won the nomination for president at around 3:20 p.m. ET.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAfter lengthy deliberation and thought, and considering the tremendous talents of many others, I have decided that the person best suited to assume the position of Vice President of the United States is Senator J.D. Vance of the Great State of Ohio. J.D. honorably served our Country in the Marine Corps, graduated from Ohio State University in two years, Summa Cum Laude, and is a Yale Law School Graduate, where he was Editor of The Yale Law Journal, and President of the Yale Law Veterans Association. J.D.\u2019s book, \u2018Hillbilly Elegy,\u2019 became a Major Best Seller and Movie, as it championed the hardworking men and women of our Country,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cJ.D. has had a very successful business career in Technology and Finance, and now, during the Campaign, will be strongly focused on the people he fought so brilliantly for, the American Workers and Farmers in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Minnesota, and far beyond,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin are the three \u201cBlue Wall\u201d states he tore down in 2016, but were re-gained by President Joe Biden in 2020. They are pivotal for both presidential prospects this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump holds leads in all three, most broadly in Pennsylvania, but more narrowly in Wisconsin and Michigan, according to RealClearPolling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance was the betting favorite leading up to the decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
