\n\nFor the third-straight season and third time in program history, the Southeastern University women’s soccer team will compete in the NAIA National Championship Tournament. The Fire are the No. 6 Seed in the field and will host an Opening Round this weekend that will include University of the Cumberlands and Tennessee Wesleyan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Southeastern earned an at-large bid to the tournament after finishing the season 16-4 and as Sun Conference Regular Season and Tournament Runners-Up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Fire are led by four-year senior and captain Uchenna Kanu<\/a>, who has netted 38 goals and recorded 17 assists this season. Kanu also recently became the NAIA All-Time Leader in Career Goals Scored, currently sitting at 153 career goals scored.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This also marks the third consecutive season SEU has hosted an Opening Round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cumberlands earned an at-large bid after a 14-3-1 campaign and coming in at No. 17 in the latest NAIA Coaches’ Top 25 Poll. The Mid-South Conference program will make their first NAIA National Tournament appearance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tennessee Wesleyan earned a bid as the Appalachian Athletic Conference Regular Season Runners-Up. The Bulldogs went 17-3 on the year and were receiving votes in the most recent NAIA Coaches’ Top 25 Poll. This marks the fifth all-time National Tournament appearance for TWU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cumberlands and Tennessee Wesleyan will battle on Friday for the chance to face SEU on Saturday. The winner of the Lakeland Opening Round will earn a place at the Final Site in Orange Beach, Alabama. Game times are to be determined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
