Boar’s Head Provisions Co., Inc. is recalling 207,528 pounds of\u00a0deli meat nationwide due to possible contamination with\u00a0Listeria monocytogenes\u00a0linked to an outbreak that has caused 34 illnesses across\u00a013 states, including 33 hospitalizations and two deaths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The U.S. Department of Agriculture\u2019s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced the recall<\/a>, which includes additional deli meats produced on the same line and day as liverwurst products that were produced between June 11 and July 17, 2024, with a 44-day shelf life. The recall includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– 3.5-lb. loaves in plastic casing or various weight packages sliced in retail delis, labeled \u201cBoar\u2019s Head Strassburger Brand Liverwurst MADE IN VIRGINIA,\u201d with sell by dates from July 25 to Aug. 30, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additional deli meats produced on June 27, 2024, are also being recalled:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– \u201cBoar\u2019s Head VIRGINIA HAM OLD FASHIONED HAM\u201d (9.5-lb. and 4.5-lb.) with sell by date \u201cAUG 10\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– \u201cBoar\u2019s Head ITALIAN CAPPY STYLE HAM\u201d (4-lb.) with sell by date \u201cAUG 10\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– \u201cBoar\u2019s Head EXTRA HOT ITALIAN CAPPY STYLE HAM\u201d (6-lb.) with sell by date \u201cAUG 10\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– \u201cBoar\u2019s Head BOLOGNA\u201d (4-lb.) with sell by date \u201cAUG 10\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– \u201cBoar\u2019s Head BEEF SALAMI\u201d (2.5-lb.) with sell by date \u201cAUG 10\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– \u201cBoar\u2019s Head STEAKHOUSE ROASTED BACON HEAT & EAT\u201d (5.5-lb.) with sell by date \u201cAUG 15\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– \u201cBoar\u2019s Head GARLIC BOLOGNA\u201d (3-lb.) with sell by date \u201cAUG 10\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– \u201cBoar\u2019s Head BEEF BOLOGNA\u201d (3-lb.) with sell by date \u201cAUG 10\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These products were distributed nationwide to retail delis and bear the establishment number \u201cEST. 12612\u201d inside the USDA mark of inspection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Listeriosis, caused by L. monocytogenes, can result in severe infections, particularly in pregnant individuals, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. Symptoms include fever, muscle aches, and gastrointestinal issues. Severe cases can lead to miscarriages, stillbirths, or life-threatening infections in newborns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FSIS urges consumers to discard the recalled products or return them to the place of purchase and to clean refrigerators to prevent cross-contamination. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
