On Sunday morning, November 24th<\/sup> the Wastewater Collections Division of Water Utilities will begin work on a project to replace three manholes in South Florida Avenue near East Lemon Street and East Orange Street. This work will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday morning and is expected to be completed within two days. In order to complete this work, the three center lanes of South Florida Avenue will be closed between East Lime Street and East Main Street for the duration of the project. The outside through lanes for both north bound and south bound South Florida Avenue will remain open during construction. Side streets coming into the construction area will be right turn only and left turns will not be permitted within in the construction zone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The work is necessary so the City of Lakeland can rehabilitate the 100-year-old clay sanitary sewer lines that are underneath South Florida Avenue. The project calls for the replacement of obsolete manholes that are in place now.  The current manholes are flush valve type and must be replaced as part of the sanitary sewer rehabilitation project.  The City of Lakeland understands that this type of project may cause some inconvenience to the public but the project is very critical to the quality of life that we all appreciate as City of Lakeland residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
