{"id":48896,"date":"2024-08-16T21:03:58","date_gmt":"2024-08-17T01:03:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/?p=48896"},"modified":"2024-08-17T16:22:42","modified_gmt":"2024-08-17T20:22:42","slug":"lee-county-supervisor-of-elections-apologizes-for-affair","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/2024\/08\/16\/lee-county-supervisor-of-elections-apologizes-for-affair\/","title":{"rendered":"Lee County Supervisor of Elections apologizes for affair"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Supervisor of Elections for Lee County, Tommy Doyle, is making a public and personal apology days before he is&nbsp;up for re-election.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" data-dominant-color=\"c9bbba\" data-has-transparency=\"false\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"238\" height=\"159\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1110px) 100vw, 1110px\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/tommydoyle2019-jpg.webp?resize=238%2C159&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-48858 not-transparent\" style=\"--dominant-color: #c9bbba; width:415px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Doyle sent the media a statement about allegations of an extramarital affair with a female co-worker after the Miami Independent first reported it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the statement, Doyle admits to making a terrible decision five years ago that hurt his wife deeply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said. \u201cThis was the worst decision of my life and something I deeply regret. My wife and I are working through this together, and through the grace of God, we are healing as a family.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He also apologized to his staff and the constituents of Lee County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He was first elected as the Supervisor of Elections in 2016 and was re-elected in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The county HR has commented on the days Doyle was at the co-worker&#8217;s house during working hours.
