The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fsis.usda.gov\/recalls-alerts\/perdue-foods-llc-recalls-frozen-ready-eat-chicken-breast-nugget-and-tender-products\">United States Department of Agriculture<\/a>\u00a0(USDA) issued a \u2018High &#8211; Class I\u2019 recall on Friday, August 16, 2024, for some of Perdue Foods LLC\u2019s ready-to-eat, frozen chicken products due to concern over contamination.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" data-dominant-color=\"c07f21\" data-has-transparency=\"false\" style=\"--dominant-color: #c07f21;\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"931\" height=\"452\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1110px) 100vw, 1110px\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Screenshot-59v.png?resize=931%2C452&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-49130 not-transparent\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Screenshot-59v.png?w=931&amp;ssl=1 931w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Screenshot-59v.png?resize=300%2C146&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Screenshot-59v.png?resize=768%2C373&amp;ssl=1 768w\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>This release came after\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fsis.usda.gov\/recalls-alerts\/perdue-foods-llc-recalls-frozen-ready-eat-chicken-breast-nugget-and-tender-products\">consumers complained<\/a>\u00a0about finding \u201cmetal wire embedded\u201d in the chicken. In response, Perdue Foods LLC, based out of Perry, Georgia, has to recall about\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fsis.usda.gov\/recalls-alerts\/perdue-foods-llc-recalls-frozen-ready-eat-chicken-breast-nugget-and-tender-products\">167,171 pounds of chicken<\/a>\u00a0for potentially being contaminated with \u201cforeign material, specifically metal\u201d.<br><br>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fsis.usda.gov\/recalls-alerts\/perdue-foods-llc-recalls-frozen-ready-eat-chicken-breast-nugget-and-tender-products\">recalled products<\/a>\u00a0are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u201cPerdue Simply Smart Organics Breaded Chicken Breast Nuggets\u201d 22 ounce (1.38 pound) plastic, vacuum-sealed bags<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u201cPerdue Chicken Breast Tenders\u201d 29 ounce (1.81 pound) plastic, vacuum-sealed bags<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u201cButcherbox Organic Chicken Breast Nuggets\u201d 22 ounce (1.38 pound) plastic, vacuum-sealed bags<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The affected products were made on March 23, 2024, and have a \u201cbest if used by\u201d date of March 23, 2025, featured on the back of each package. Each affected package also has the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fsis.usda.gov\/recalls-alerts\/perdue-foods-llc-recalls-frozen-ready-eat-chicken-breast-nugget-and-tender-products\">establishment number<\/a>&nbsp;\u201cP-33944\u201d.<br><br>The potentially contaminated meat was&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fsis.usda.gov\/recalls-alerts\/perdue-foods-llc-recalls-frozen-ready-eat-chicken-breast-nugget-and-tender-products\">retailed nationwide<\/a>, including in Florida, and was also shipped directly to consumers. This brand is sold at stores like Walmart, Target, and Publix.<br><br>At the time of the report, the USDA stated that&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fsis.usda.gov\/recalls-alerts\/perdue-foods-llc-recalls-frozen-ready-eat-chicken-breast-nugget-and-tender-products\">no one had experienced an adverse reaction<\/a>&nbsp;as a result of consuming the products and recommended that if anyone has any concerns about an illness or injury, then that person should get in touch with a healthcare provider.<br><br>The USDA\u2019s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) believes that some of the contaminated products may still be in consumers\u2019 freezers.
