encrypted-media;accelerometer;autoplay;clipboard-write;gyroscope;picture-in-picture clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen title=\"UPDATE: ATTEMPTED MURDER OF LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS\"><\/iframe><\/div>                        <\/div>\n\n                                            <\/div>\n                <\/div>\n            <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n    \n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The two detectives were later patrolling in the 1100 block of Atlantic Avenue around 5:45 p.m. where they saw the same red Nissan Maxima in the roadway.&nbsp;Standing next to the vehicle was Williams and Littles.&nbsp;As the detectives drove past them, Williams pointed his fingers at the detectives, simulating the firing of a gun.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After passing them, one of the detectives looked in his rear-view mirror to see Williams holding a handgun.&nbsp;Williams then started shooting directly at the detective\u2019s vehicle.&nbsp;The police vehicle was struck 5 times.&nbsp;Video surveillance from the area was obtained which showed Williams firing his handgun 15 times.&nbsp;The two suspects fled the area in the Maxima.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" data-dominant-color=\"7f7a79\" data-has-transparency=\"false\" style=\"--dominant-color: #7f7a79;\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"663\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1110px) 100vw, 1110px\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/MUGSHOTS-1024x663.webp?resize=1024%2C663&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-49174 not-transparent\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/MUGSHOTS-scaled.webp?resize=1024%2C663&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/MUGSHOTS-scaled.webp?resize=300%2C194&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/MUGSHOTS-scaled.webp?resize=768%2C497&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/MUGSHOTS-scaled.webp?resize=1536%2C994&amp;ssl=1 1536w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/MUGSHOTS-scaled.webp?resize=2048%2C1325&amp;ssl=1 2048w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/MUGSHOTS-scaled.webp?w=2220&amp;ssl=1 2220w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With the valuable assistance of the Polk County Sheriff\u2019s Office, the Hillsborough County Sheriff\u2019s Office, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and an intense search for the suspects immediately began.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the early morning hours around 1:25 a.m., Williams and Littles were located at a residence in Tampa.&nbsp;The two called for an Uber to pick them up in an attempt to distance themselves from the vehicle. &nbsp;After they left the residence in the Uber, a traffic stop was performed and the two were taken into custody.&nbsp;The Uber driver was extremely cooperative and it was learned the two were headed back to an address on Plateau Avenue in Lakeland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Williams was arrested for two counts of Attempted Murder of a Law Enforcement Officer in the 2nd&nbsp;Degree (with a firearm) and two counts of Shooting Into an Occupied Vehicle.&nbsp;Littles was arrested on unrelated charges by the Hillsborough County Sheriff\u2019s Office.&nbsp;However, Littles remains a suspect in this case and charges may be forthcoming.&nbsp;Both were transported to the Hillsborough County Jail.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<center><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?height=314&#038;href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FLakelandPD%2Fvideos%2F922300706343223%2F&#038;show_text=false&#038;width=560&#038;t=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"314\" style=\"border:none;overflow:hidden\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowFullScreen=\"true\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Through facts learned during investigation, Williams clearly knew the detectives he was shooting at were law enforcement officers.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This investigation remains open and active.
