 After posting four top-three finishes in the fall, Florida Southern College women’s golf has been ranked No. 10 in the final WGCA Coaches Poll of the fall, the Women’s Golf Coaches Association announced on Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Moccasins are one of seven teams from the Sunshine State Conference ranked inside the top 10 in the final poll of the fall. Nova Southeastern is the highest-ranked SSC member at No. 2, while Lynn (No. 5), Tampa (No. 6), Rollins (No. 7), Barry (No. 8), and Saint Leo (No. 9) are also ranked in the top 10. Florida Southern was also No. 10 in the final fall coaches poll a year ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Florida Southern won the Saint Leo Invitational in October, finished second at the Lady Falcon Invitational and Battle at Old South in September, and took third in a loaded field at the Golfweek DII Fall Invite to open the month of October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Mocs had 11 individual top-10 finishes this fall, highlighted by Loren Perez<\/a>‘s first-place showing at the Saint Leo Invitational. Amanda Gartrell<\/a> and Nathalie Svensson<\/a> tied for fourth at the same tournament when Southern won by nine strokes over second-place Tampa. Gartrell and Perez were each among the top five in two other tournaments, while Lacey Tucker<\/a> finished among the top five twice and the top 10 another time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Perez (No. 16), Gartrell (No. 32), Tucker (No. 66), and Sun Hwang<\/a> (No. 71) were ranked among the Golfstat top 100 individuals in Division II women’s golf following the fall season of play. The Moccasins tee off for the first time in the spring at the World Golf Invitational in St. Augustine from Feb. 10-11 and host the annual Lady Moc Classic on Feb. 17-18.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
