Be prepared, get ready for anything that might happen,\u201d said Pedro Rios, of Mulberry, who picked up ten sandbags Tuesday at a site in Mulberry to protect his back porch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sandbag site locations are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Mulberry\/South Lakeland \u2013 Loyce E. Harpe Park, 500 W. Carter Road, Mulberry<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lakeland \u2013 8970 N. Campbell Road, Lakeland<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fort Meade \u2013 1061 NE 9th St., Fort Meade<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Frostproof \u2013 350 County Road 630A, Frostproof<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Auburndale \u2013 1701 Holt Road, Auburndale<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dundee \u2013 805 Dr. Martin Luther King St. SW, Dundee<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Poinciana Park \u2013 5109 Allegheny Road, Kissimmee 34759<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>They are open 8 a.m. \u2013 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Residents must show an ID to prove Polk County residency and are given ten pre-filled sandbags each.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c[The sandbags] were going be so useful to me that I came prepared thinking I had to lift them myself so when I saw the gentlemen, I\u2019m like \u2018angels in green vests,\u2019\u201d Linda Crutchfield of Mulberry said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Polk County\u2019s emergency management Director Paul Womble told News Channel 8 it is important for residents to monitor the storm and its track closely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Right now, the county is bracing for tropical storm conditions, which could include strong winds and 3 to 6 inches of rain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Peace River, Womble said, is high but not at flood stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe grounds are kind of saturated so if we get a lot of rain, which we do have some issues with that, 2 or 3 inches in an hour, 4 inches in an hour, it causes some flooding,\u201d said Eddie Benton, a site manager with Polk County roads and drainage division.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Benton expected to give out 5,000 bags from the Mulberry site alone on Tuesday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sandbag sites&nbsp;will be open again Wednesday as Polk County residents brace for heavy rain and winds when Tropical Storm Helene hits Thursday. \u201cJust getting ready before, I don\u2019t like to&hellip;
