Central Illinois-based Midwest Food Bank is mobilizing relief efforts as Hurricane\/Tropical Storm Helene continues to bring damaging winds, rain, and flash flooding to the country\u2019s southeastern states.<\/p>\n\n\n

The organization is also asking the public to help pay for supplies and fuel to get food boxes and clean-up kits to hard-hit areas of Florida and Georgia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Midwest Food Bank is working with multiple state and relief agencies in Florida to provide water and other drinks, as well as ready to eat meals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Georgia, the food bank\u2019s Georgia division is partnering with the Salvation Army to bring in three semi-loads of water and drinks to areas facing a shortage of clean water to drink.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMidwest Food Bank\u2019s commitment to disaster relief means we are always prepared to respond swiftly in times of crisis,\u201d Lisa Martin, the food bank\u2019s executive director, in a  statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur goal is to ease the burden by providing essential supplies like food, water, and clean-up tools, working with our partners to bring relief to those in need,\u201d Martin said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anyone interested in donating to Midwest Food Bank\u2019s efforts is asked to visit the organization\u2019s website <\/a>and click \u201cDonate.\u201d And, on the donation form, select \u201cDisaster Relief\u201d for the designation. You can also text @MFB to 52014 to donate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
