On October 2, 2024, shortly after 8:00 a.m., LakelandPD officers were called to a local apartment complex for a disturbance. The distraught female victim called 911 saying she was battered by the suspect, John Gonzalez, who was loading a gun. The victim also told dispatchers Gonzalez had several guns and illegal drugs in the apartment and had been consuming drugs all night.<\/p>\n\n\n

Once officers arrived and made sure the victim was safe, an investigation began into the drug and weapons allegations. Detectives responded to assist, and a search warrant was obtained for the apartment. Inside officers located crack cocaine (which also tested positive for fentanyl), two handguns, one rifle, and ammunition. Gonzalez admitted he makes crack cocaine at his residence from cocaine he receives from an associate in the Miami area, which he then sells locally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gonzalez was on pretrial release from a recent dating-violence arrest and was prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition. Gonzalez was arrested for Violation of his Pretrial Conditions, Battery, Aggravated Assault, Manufacture of Cocaine, Ownership\/Lease\/Rental or Possession (of a Structure) For Trafficking in or Manufacturing a Controlled Substance, Possession of Fentanyl, Possession of Cocaine, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
