Residents should not place debris in roadways or close to permanent objects like trees, mailboxes, or under power lines. Large claw trucks cannot move through narrow roads or navigate around other objects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The county\u2019s initial focus will be in the most heavily damaged areas that are unaffected by flooding. There will be a debris removal progress website, beginning next week, to view progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Debris haulers will sweep the entire county, so residents do not have to call and report or request service; however, residents may call the Residential Hurricane Milton Debris Hotline at (833) 843-1920 with questions.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" data-dominant-color=\"75715e\" data-has-transparency=\"false\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"253\" height=\"200\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1110px) 100vw, 1110px\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/images-1-1.jpeg?resize=253%2C200&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-50869 not-transparent\" style=\"--dominant-color: #75715e; width:429px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To ensure debris is picked up at the curb, residents should separate debris by the following categories:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022 Vegetative Debris (unbagged leaves, logs, plants, and tree branches)<br>\u2022 Construction and demolition debris (building materials, carpet, drywall, furniture, lumber, mattress, plumbing, etc.)<br>\u2022 Appliances and white goods (A\/C units, dishwashers, freezers, refrigerators, stoves, washers, dryers, etc.)<br>\u2022 Electronics (televisions, computers, etc.)<br>\u2022 Household hazardous waste (cleaning supplies, batteries, paints, pesticides, etc.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For residents who wish to self-haul and drop off their debris the following options are available:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The following location will accept&nbsp;<strong>all hurricane-related debris at no cost<\/strong>&nbsp;during regular operation hours:&nbsp;<strong>Monday to Friday: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Saturday: 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Polk County North Central Transfer Station, 3131 K-Ville Ave, Auburndale, FL 33823<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The following\u00a0<strong>yard waste\/vegetative debris-only<\/strong>\u00a0drop-off sites will be open\u00a0<strong>Monday through Sunday, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.<\/strong>, beginning,\u00a0<strong>Sunday, Oct. 13<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Polk County Strickland Avenue, 5901 Strickland Ave., Lakeland, FL 33812<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Polk County Marigold, 9500 Marigold Ave., Poinciana, FL 34759<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The county\u2019s intent is to have all Hurricane Milton debris removed by Nov. 24, 2024.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-vivid-red-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-1 wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The City of Lakeland will collect and manage those efforts within their city limits.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Residents in unincorporated Polk with collection services through the county\u2019s Solid Waste Division should keep their routine yard waste separate from storm debris.
