Unacceptable, and we\u2019re gonna hold you accountable,\u201d DeSantis said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles Director Dave Kerner added that the owner went to jail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c[We are] now pursuing animal cruelty charges against the individual,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lopez, at the press conference, said she was abhorred when she learned of Florida Highway Patrol troopers in her district having to rescue the dog because of the owner\u2019s actions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lopez was appointed to her position in 2023 and is up for election this November against Democrat Andrew Warren.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gov.
