Broadway Ave., Bartow<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">6:30 p.m. \u2013 10:30 p.m. $15, $5 under 10 years old<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI think maybe he had one too many shots of Ozempic,\u201d said Judd. \u201cHe needs to eat. Put some meat on the bones.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yes, Judd is that one local sheriff on a poster dressed up like a gunslinger who makes fun of criminals in news conferences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this news story, skeletons are the subject of Grady\u2019s take downs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He also kissed a skull for a photo op. And made Ouija board sound effects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Why? What is happening here?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Where is the tough guy? Judd\u2019s getting goofy, all so he can raise money for the United Way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s the 14th and final Haunted Jail Tour, as the now empty jail awaits demolition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And it may be Judd\u2019s favorite time of the year coming to an end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s really cool to not see people when you have your business face on,\u201d said Judd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All the d\u00e9cor \u2014 from the coffin to the cobwebs \u2014 serves several purposes: fundraising and family fun in a non-stressful setting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019re having community interaction. We\u2019re meeting new people. It\u2019s just totally awesome,\u201d said Judd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Judd credits the Department of Detention with the inception, creation and execution of the jail tour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is a bit of scary gore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But Judd says it&#8217;s no problem for families with little ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIf you\u2019ve got some real little kids that are too small to come through, we\u2019ve got deputies that will watch over them, as long as you promise to come get then at the end of the tour,\u201d said Judd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last year the Polk County Sheriff\u2019s Office cut a check to the United Way of Central Florida for more than $50,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is a street carnival as well, with food and children\u2019s activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is also a dunk tank with Polk County school resource deputies waiting for you to dunk them for charity.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Buster the skeleton has a problem.
