<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\nThe City of Lakeland said it\u2019s working with several agencies to help alleviate flooding. It\u2019s been a few days since the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers dropped off two more pumps to help move water out of the area, but neighbors are still frustrated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Things are starting to dry out at Pamela Smith\u2019s home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe water is out of the house. We still have three feet of water in our backyard,\u201d Smith said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n As things dry out, the reality of how much damage was done is sinking in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt\u2019s just hard,\u201d Smith said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n She said she feels abandoned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt\u2019s like nothing is getting done. It is like watching paint dry, nothing is getting done,\u201d Smith said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Smith wants to know what resources are available to help get her community back on its feet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWhat part is the city, the county, Southwest Florida Water Management District \u2014 what part are they going to play in moving forward into the next phase,\u201d Smith said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n People who live at the Bonny Shores Mobile Home Park are asking the same question.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThey\u2019re out in a hotel or with a friend. That\u2019s what a lot of people are doing because they have no choice,\u201d said David Beck, who lives at Bonny Shores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The American Red Cross said it is bringing lunch every day to this senior community. Residents are thankful, but they believe more needs to be done by local officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cTo shower we have to go somewhere else, but to go somewhere we have the porta potties up there but it\u2019s very difficult,\u201d Beck said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Neighbors said they\u2019ve seen the water slowly rise since Hurricane Debby. Colleen Betzer said it\u2019s not only stressful but expensive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt\u2019s like they don\u2019t care about us at all. We\u2019re just money and I just think it\u2019s totally wrong that they didn\u2019t help alleviate this before two more hurricanes came,\u201d Betzer said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n![\"\"](\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/pumps.webp?resize=876%2C492&ssl=1\")
