Too afraid to answer, Sheriff?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nWhat I want to know now as a citizen of Polk County \u2014 as a husband, father, brother, and son \u2014 is how Grady Judd plans, operationally, to enforce the criminalization of rape victims and other women who end pregnancies at scale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So I sent the sheriff and his spokespeople some specific questions several days ago. Here they are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The sheriff obviously takes the punishment of girls and women who have abortions very seriously. I have questions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2014 Has he detailed an abortion hunting unit yet? Will it be similar to child protection units? How many detectives\/deputies will be committed to it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2014 Has he begun to collect data from hospitals on pregnancy and miscarriage? He needs to verify that every miscarriage is, in fact, a miscarriage, correct? Are the hospitals cooperating?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2014 Does the sheriff consider every miscarriage or non-viable fetus after 15 weeks a death investigation?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2014 Why does the sheriff consider Jonathan Pollock and his many relatives not worth helping the FBI or having a press conference to denounce the people obviously helping cover for him?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I\u2019d like answers to these questions. I\u2019m sure the sheriff will be lobbying the governor soon to illegally remove local elected officials he doesn\u2019t like from office, too. People should know his standards. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
You\u2019ll be shocked to learn that the big talking, camera-hog sheriff, who left his jurisdiction to help illegally fire another county\u2019s elected official, hasn\u2019t worked up the courage to answer my questions in writing.<\/p>\n\n\n\nI expect he never will. Prove me wrong, Sheriff Moon Pie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And let me ask Grady\u2019s deputies something: is hunting rape victims who end pregnancies so your boss can preen on TV what ya\u2019ll signed up for when you went into law enforcement \u201cto protect and serve?\u201d Look at what your boss says he expects to make you do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Every miscarriage demands a death investigation if \u201clife begins at conception\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nIf the sheriff doesn\u2019t have these plans in place, DeSantis should also remove him office for laxity in enforcement \u2014 along with every other law enforcement leader who doesn\u2019t have abortion hunting units in place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If the sheriff isn\u2019t going to track every pregnancy and investigate every miscarriage after 15 weeks, he\u2019s not enforcing \u201cthe law\u201d and should be removed from office under this new DeSantis \u201cstandard.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Moreover, Republicans clearly plan to make all of Florida\u2019s 80,000 annual abortions criminal if Ron DeSantis wins re-election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Not one Republican I\u2019ve seen will say they won\u2019t. And they just keep repeating the nonsense phrase \u201clife begins at conception,\u201d which means they consider all<\/em><\/strong> terminated pregnancies pre-meditated child murder. That is what fetal personhood means.<\/p>\n\n\n\nI\u2019ve found, over the years, that Sheriff Judd is willing to write big checks with his mouth that he\u2019s unwilling to cash with actual enforcement when called on it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Well, as of last week, the sheriff\u2019s big mouth clearly prioritizes the rights of a rapist\/ incest dad to reproduce over a girl\u2019s or a woman\u2019s right to live. That\u2019s just a cold fact and a big check. He was happy to cheerlead while DeSantis cashed it for him in Hillsborough County.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nBut Grady is the sheriff of Polk County<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\nAnd back here, he\u2019s quiet as a church mouse about his support for rapists\u2019 pro-creation rights \u2014 and the policing resources required to enforce them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
