A baby gator was \u201carrested\u201d by deputies after finding its way into a Lakeland neighborhood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Oct. 30, deputies responded to a wildlife complaint on Parker Street West, near Swindell Avenue North, for an estimated 2-3 foot long gator.<\/p>\n\n\n

That\u2019s when they put him \u201cunder arrest\u201d carefully, saying that although he is little, his teeth are sharp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Friday, the Polk County Sheriff\u2019s Office shared the images in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, of the baby alligator in the custody of two of their deputies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They captioned the playful post with hashtags reading, \u201cDo you realize how hard it is to cuff a gator,\u201d \u201cHow do you frisk a gator,\u201d and ending it with \u201cvery carefully\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The photos show the baby animal sitting on the floorboard of a deputy\u2019s patrol vehicle, and deputies holding up their new arrestee.<\/p>\n\n\n

One user, @AmyA1A, played along with the sheriff\u2019s office\u2019s post, thanking the deputies for giving the factor, they named Kevin, a \u201cscared straight\u201d moment, calling his arrest disappointing but necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 \u201cThat\u2019s our nephew Kevin. We were always worried that he\u2019d fallen in with a bad crowd,\u201d they wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The user ended their comment by telling Kevin the gator he needs to make better choices, but that they still love him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Polk deputies replied back, \u201cWe\u2019ll try to help set him straight.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sheriff\u2019s office said the baby gator was taken to Itchepackesasse Creek Reserve in Lakeland, which they said is a much better area than a resident\u2019s yard.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
