After transferring to the Patrol Division in 1974, he quickly progressed through the ranks \u2013 holding every rank from Sergeant to Colonel. The citizens of Polk County has overwhelmingly elected Sheriff Judd to serve as Sheriff every year since 2004.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Judd gained publicity as a sheriff with his &#8220;tell it like it is&#8221; demeanor. In 2006, after a traffic stop resulted in a deputy and his K-9 dog partner being shot and killed, deputies subsequently shot and killed the suspect, shooting him 68 times.
