A tragic crash on I-275 claimed the life of a Winter Haven motorcyclist on the afternoon of Friday, December 13, 2024. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reports the accident occurred at approximately 2:40 PM north of Milepost 43.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The crash involved two vehicles: a Harley Davidson motorcycle<\/strong> and a Tesla Model 3<\/strong>. According to FHP, the 47-year-old man driving the motorcycle was traveling northbound in the outside lane of I-275. Simultaneously, a Tesla, driven by a 49-year-old woman from Lithia with a 19-year-old female passenger, was entering the highway via an adjacent entrance ramp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Investigators say the motorcyclist crossed the gore area at the entrance ramp, colliding with the left rear of the Tesla. The impact caused the motorcycle to come to rest in the outside northbound lane of the highway, while the Tesla came to a controlled stop on the outside shoulder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The motorcyclist was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the Tesla and her passenger were unharmed in the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Authorities continue to investigate the crash. No further details have been released at this time. Motorists are reminded to exercise caution and adhere to traffic laws to help prevent future tragedies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
