Start 2020 off on the right foot – and then the left – at\nthe annual “Here\u2019s to Your Health Hike” on New Year’s Day at Circle B\nBar Reserve. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Join County Commissioner George Lindsey at 9 a.m. for a hike\naround Circle B. The hike begins at Polk\u2019s Nature Discovery Center and meanders\nalong roughly 2 1\/2 miles of beautiful trails. Polk County Parks & Natural\nResources staff and volunteers will be stationed along the trail to talk about\nthe reserve\u2019s wildlife and restoration. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants will hike through the oak hammock of Circle B\nand along the shoreline of Lake Hancock on the Alligator Alley trail. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Along the hike, visitors will be able to explore a variety\nof habitats including oak hammock, freshwater marsh, hardwood swamp and\nlakeshore. There is also a tremendous bird population, including a variety of\nwading birds, waterfowl, ospreys and bald eagles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the hike, take some time out to explore the Nature\nDiscovery Center. Inside visitors can experience a variety of hands-on\nexhibits, the Exploration Lab, Land through Time Theater, or the Expedition\nRoom. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Nature Discovery Center also serves as the hub to\ndisseminate information about Polk County’s Environmental Lands. So please\nbefore you leave Circle B Bar Reserve, stop by the visitors’ desk for a more\ninformation about Polk County’s Environmental Lands Program. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
