The Wisconsin Herd (15-4), the NBA G League affiliate of the\nMilwaukee Bucks, dropped its fourth game of the season in a 118-111 loss to the\nLakeland Magic (10-9) on Saturday night inside Menominee Nation Arena.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the second consecutive night, Lakeland was without one\nof its Two-Way players as Josh Magette was transferred to the Orlando Magic\nprior to tip-off. B.J. Johnson, who sat out Friday\u2019s game, scored a game-high\n36 points on 11 field goals, while Vic Law collected his second consecutive\n30-point effort and double-double. Law had 33 points and 15 rebounds and\nMichale Kyser and Hassani Gravett each had 15 points. Kyser also added eight\nrebounds and career-high seven blocks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lakeland opened the game by scoring seven of the game\u2019s\nfirst nine points, but upon reaching the first media timeout, the Magic led by\njust one. Law picked up where he left off the night before and scored 13 first\nquarter points, while Jones paced all Wisconsin players with six points in the\nperiod. With under 80 seconds remaining in the stanza, Lakeland increased what\nwas once a one-point lead to a double-digit advantage. The Magic led by as many\nas 12 points and maintained the advantage for most of the frame. In total,\nLakeland shot 56% from the field, made six three-pointers and led 38-26 at the\nend of the opening 12 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Herd tallied the first basket of the second quarter, but\nLakeland responded by scoring 11 unanswered points. The run gave the Magic a\n21-point lead and forced a prompt timeout by Wisconsin. Lakeland ultimately led\nby as many as 23 points, but with just over 11 seconds remaining in the half,\nthe Herd pulled to within 15 on a layup by Mason. The Magic\u2019s first half\nsuccess was due in large part to Law and Johnson. The duo proved to be steady\nin the first 24 minutes as the two players combined to score 41 of the Magic\u2019s\n62 points. For the half, Lakeland shot a tick over 51% and led 62-47 at the\nintermission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wisconsin found an offensive rhythm at the outset of the\nthird quarter and opened the period by scoring 11 of the first 16 points. The\nspurt cut the Herd\u2019s deficit to single digits and forced the Magic into a\ntimeout with 8:27 on the clock. With just over five minutes to play in the\nstanza, Hess buried a three-pointer to make it a 76-70 game, but Lakeland\nresponded with seven points of its own and extended its lead back to double\nfigures. For the quarter, Wisconsin outscored the Magic by four, but trailed\n91-80 heading into the final quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lakeland created further separation to begin the fourth\nquarter and raced out to 19-point lead on the heels of a 13-5 run. Following\nthe Magic\u2019s spurt, the Herd sliced eight points off its deficit and made it an\n11-point game with 5:24 to play. Wisconsin made it interesting down the stretch\nand pulled to within four with 58.3 seconds remaining in the game. Despite the\naggressive comeback attempt, Lakeland concluded the contest by scoring four of\nthe final five points. In the half, the Herd outscored the Magic by eight, but\nfell on the second night of a back-to-back, 118-111.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saturday\u2019s home loss is the first for the Wisconsin since\nopening night on Nov. 8. The 111 points also ties the Herd\u2019s season low, which\nwas set on Nov. 9 against Windy City. The Herd falls to 3-6 all-time against\nLakeland but beat the Magic two out of three times this season to win the\nseason series.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
