A 28-year-old Florida woman identified as Tiffany Perkins is in custody after she responded to Polk County Sheriff\u2019s Deputy\u2019s questioning her in a utility theft investigation by calling 911 herself and ordering her dog to attack the approaching officer. Her dog, a Great Dane, reacted to its master\u2019s command by biting the deputy in the arm and face, narrowly missing his eye.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a\u00a0press release<\/a>\u00a0from the PCSO, the incident began when \u201cDuke Energy workers were at the residence regarding possible theft of utilities there, and Tiffany released her dogs at them.\u201d A PCSO Deputy arrived on the scene and began to speak with Perkins when she turned away, dialed 911 and sicced her dogs on him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The PCSO Deputy, nine-year veteran Clint Wofford, according to\u00a0McClatchy News, was able to call for backup as he struggled with the dog. Upon the arrival of additional deputies, the attacking dog was successfully restrained and, along with another Great Dane \u201cin extremely poor health,\u201d were confiscated from Perkins by PCSO’s Animal Control, officials said. The suspect was placed under arrest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement to the outlet, the sheriff\u2019s office said that Wofford \u201cwas bitten on the arm and right next to his eye. Not the actual eyeball \u2026 but right next to it. He was very fortunate.\u201d Details of his condition have not yet been released, and the Duke Energy employees were unharmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As noted in the press release Perkins \u201ccollected A LOT of charges,\u201d including: \u201caggravated battery on law enforcement, aggravated assault on law enforcement, aggravated assault (2 counts), resisting with violence, resisting without violence, theft of utility services, petit theft, trespass other than structure\/ conveyance, animal cruelty, open septic, nuisance injurious to health, burning prohibited materials, waste tire disposal, misuse of 911, and unpermitted landfill.\u201d
