Did you know that the Florida Legislature may pass a bill for Governor DeSantis to sign into law requiring all our vehicles to have a second license plate?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If the bill becomes law, Florida would become the 30th state to mandate two license plates. The bill, known as SB-92 or the Lilly Glaubach Act, which is supported by the family of Lilly Glaubach, a 13-year-old girl killed in a hit-and-run accident. The bill was introduced to help law enforcement identify hit-and-run vehicles more easily and has passed through two committees unanimously, advancing to the appropriations committee next.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bill requires vehicles to display a license plate on both the front and back. Currently, Florida requires only one tag that is always placed on the rear of a vehicle. The new bill also mandates that repair shops request a written crash report for repairs costing $2,500 or more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

State Senator Joe Gruters clarified that there would be no additional fee for the second plate, as drivers would continue to pay a single registration fee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If passed, the law would take effect on July 1, 2025, with the requirement for front license plates beginning on January 1, 2026.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
