The DC-8 cargo plane will no longer be on display at SUN ‘N FUN this year as the international Christian relief organization is preparing to respond to the deadly earthquake that rocked Myanmar and Thailand on Friday. More than 1,700 people were killed in the tragic earthquake, and search and rescue efforts are still underway. <\/p>\n\n\n

Samaritan\u2019s Purse utilizes the DC-8 cargo plane for emergency relief with the goal of being able to deploy in less than 24 hours after a disaster strikes. This year at SUN ‘N FUN, Samaritan\u2019s Purse will display a water filtration system that is capable of producing clean water for up to 16,000 people a day. This unit was specially designed by Samaritan\u2019s Purse engineers to fit on one pallet position on the DC-8.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the cargo plane is unable to be present at the airshow this year, its absence is the very reason it is necessary and demonstrates the necessity of aviation.
