That includes everyone in the Sunshine State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The IRS reminded residents of nine states about the extended deadline, which will give them until Thursday, May 1, to file.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Florida is one of five states where everyone is included in the postponement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Extensions beyond May 1 are available, the IRS noted, but the taxpayer must request them. Information on how those extensions work can be found at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/extensions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">IRS.gov\/extensions<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The other four are: Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. The full list of affected areas Alaska, New Mexico, Tennessee, and Virginia is&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/newsroom\/tax-relief-in-disaster-situations\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>available here<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Other parts of the country were also granted disaster-related extension that will mean they do not need to file until this fall.
